Troubleshooting issues with Power Slide
by Lumo 7 Months, 1 Week ago
If you are having problems / symptoms with your Power Slide extension, then try the following items on this checklist to try resolve the issue. Any symptoms we get in support are usually a result of one of the following issues:

(1) Make sure your template is not conflicting with the extension

Do this by setting your Joomla! template back to the default Joomla! template - if the Power Slide module works fine after this, then it is because either the CSS or Javascript code in your template is conflicting with Power Slide. CSS conflicts usually display the module ~ but it will look all funny or just the module title will show. Often when the module is placed in rounded suffix modules "DIV DIV DIV" this breaks the code, as often rounded modules are not coded correctly.

(2) Make sure there are not any code / javascript conflicts

If there is a Javascript conflict the module usually will not show at all, this is because you either have a different version of mootools running, or have jquery code in your template which is breaking the slideshow effects. Try disabling any other javascript type modules on the page you are trying to display the gallery and see if that resolves the issue.

(3) Check Folder and File Permissions

Make sure that your Power Slide module folder and files are all chmod 755. NOT 777 or other, as most server setups will not run files that are writable by group. Also do the same for the image and image thumbnail directories.

(4) File naming conventions

Check the name of your images / thumbnails, make sure there are no capital letters and spaces. e.g. "File Name.jpg" should be "filename.jpg"

(5) Check PHP / GD versions

The image resizing uses a script which makes use of GD library - which must be installed and up to date on your server - check with your hosting provider regarding this.

(6) Last resorts

After you have done all of the above and it is still not working, you have 3 options:

(1a) Try view the source of your site page - you should be able to find the link to the image or for the thumbnails - open that link in your browser, and see if it works - it should open fine with a bunch of garbled code ~ that means that the resizing and images are fine - and more than likely you are experiencing CSS or javascript issues.

(1b) If the above does not work, check your hosting control panel error logs. When you do the above and it does not work, your error logs should spit out an error explaining what the issue is.

(1c) Drop us a mail to our support staff, and if possible please send us your web address (URL) and also a super admin account and we will try sort out the issue for you!

Hi there, I have gone through your extensive support options but I have to admit that I am not too much of a wizz.

I have just purchased the Power Sllide Pro and when I try to install it I get this message.

Error - Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

Kindly sort out this for me.

Hi there

You need to extract the file you downloaded first as it contains both the component and module zip files for you to install.

yep this is a standard Joomla! problem, basically you need to first extract the contents of the download file you received.

Then install the compressed file within your download.

Hello

Iīm having the same trouble with Powerslide Pro.
I can see the slideshow, but when I try to see through lightbox I only get a black square and no picture at all.

What version of PHP must be used and whatīs the name/version of the GD script

I have this version on my server: GD - bundled (2.0.28 compatible) (I donīt see any script)

Can you help?
